Died of brain tumor which developed after head injury caused by flywheel flying off a piece of farm equipment. Called "Boss" by family and friends. One of the pictures at BK924 shows him, wife Pearl, and daughter Edith, on the front porch of their home located on Rt. #40 (MLK Hwy.) The house was dismantled in 1977 after his daughter Doris Jean and husband Shirley Johnson built a brick ranch house behind it.
He owned farm called Gilliams (other side of Averys Mill Pond - now called Cockes Lake) when first married. All children except Doris Jean were born there. Family sold it to Continental Can in 1965, who later sold it to Carrolls Foods (hog farm) behind Marvin and Pat Padgetts.

Westbrook family cemetery located 3/4 mile off Rt. 40 on Rt. 601 on farm owned by Joe Westbrook at his death in 2003. Pictures at BK # 925 were taken:
1. In front of Waverly High School in June 1949 after daughter Jean's graduation.
2. Probably when she was about age 21.
3. Soon after the death of husband as her clothing indicated mourning and baby Jean on lap with other children around her.
4. In front yard of her mother's home. She was throwing snowball at her brother Moses. This picture was cropped. See full picture at Otelia #1583.
