page 690 NEWMAN, DANIEL, soldier, congressman, was born about 1780 in North Carolina. He was lieutenant-colonel commanding Georgia volunteers in 1813; and was a representative in congress from Georgia from 1831 to 1833. He died Jan. 16, 1851, in Walker county, Ga.
