    SEVENTH GENERATION
28 1 EDMUND JOHNSON, son of (2k 1), was born around 1788. He had received a modest legacy from his father and was a farmer like generations before him. He married Lucy Solomon in Surry on November 20, l8l0. They sold some land to Lewis Sheffield in September 1812. Edmund and Lucy had six children before her death which probably came in the late 1830's. On March 7, 1837, Edmund was married to Sally Hobbs. Their son, David Paten Johnson, was born on August 5, 1840 There may have been other children but they did not survive infancy. Edmund was last listed in the 1850 United States Census, aged 61, with one son Davy, aged 9, at home. We do not know when he died or where he was buried and all that survives of him is a small Bible with "Edmon Johnson's book, July the 17th, 1832" in his hand inside the back cover and "Surry Bible Society" and "David P. Johnson" inside the front cover.

    Notes:

Comments (JOHNSON Laveter b. Abt 1710 d. 1777): I really have enjoyed looking over your Booth Family Genealogy pages. You have a lot of great information there.
I am finding your Leveter Johnson very interesting.
I have a Leveter Johnson Solomon as my furthest back on my Solomon line. He was born circa 1770 and died after 1840. In 1810 and 1820 he is living in Surry County, North Carolina. He later moves with many of his sons first to Scott County, Virginia (1830) and then to Clinton County, Ohio (1840). He appears to have died before 1850. Then many of his sons and grandsons disperse to Indiana, Illinois and further.
I do not have a wife of Leveter Johnson Solomon but I descend down from his son John Solomon that married Lucy Pritchett. This John also named a son Laveter or Leveter Johnson Solomon b. 18 March 1822 in North Carolina. John died early and Leveter was appointed a guardian at the age of 16 and his guardian was John Holliday and the witness at this hearing was Gideon Fuller. Gideon Fuller's wife was Amee Solomon. I am not sure exactly how Amee Solomon fits in but believe she could be a sister to John or to John's farther Leveter.
I have a strong feeling that somewhere in this line - Probably the first Leveter b. circa 1770 had a wife with the maiden name Johnson and probably descended from your Leveter Johnson Solomon. BUT, I have no proof and it is just total speculation at this point.
Also, I believe that my Solomon line probably descends from a Lewis Solomon line out of Surry County, Virginia...but again I have not direct proof. This Solomon line were gentiles as my Solomon line is and were possibly a part of some people that came over from England as Huguenots. Again...no proof of this, but many things line up in that direction. Here is a link to that Solomon family line
I do notice that you have a couple females that do also marry men with the Solomon last name and they do appear to all be in the same area as the Surry County, VA Solomon family.
If you have any information or come across anything that may tie my line in I would appreciate even the most basic of information.
Thank you so much for your hard work and organization of your family tree.
    Susan McMorrine.

    Notes:

    SIXTH GENERATION
2k 1 LEVI JOHNSON, son of (22 ?), was born before 1757 (he had to be in order to be appointed guardian of his younger brother). He is listed as head of a family in the Virginia lists with five persons under his roof in 1782 and with six in 178A-.2 We know little about his life except that his wife's name was Elizabeth and he had at least one son named Edmund and possibly others. At his death in 1810 his property was sold at public auction with his wife and son receiving most of the proceeds. Other Johnsons mentioned in the sale were David, Richard, and Randolph. Whether or not these were other sons we cannot say.

  1. 8.  JOHNSON Laveter was born about 1710 (son of JOHNSON John E. and JOHNSON Hannah --LNU--); died in 1777.

    Notes:

    FIFTH GENERATION
22 7 LEVETER JOHNSON, son of (13 6), was evidently married but childless at his father's death in 1742. We guess his birthdate at around 1710. He inherited his father's plantation which believe was on the western edge of what was then Surry County. He was named as an executor of his father's will. Leveter Johnson and his wife Susanna entered into an indenture with Thomas Emery, Jr., December 1759 for some land in Surry County which had come to them through her family. Leveter and Susanna Johnson had at least three children and possibly others. Leveter died in 1777 and gave 50 acres each to these three children. His eldesl son, Levi, was appointed guardian of the youngest. the orphan Thomas, in March 1778. It appears that none of the Johnsons served in the Revolutionary War, the father being too old and the sons too young for service.
