11/11/1993 - ELAINE PECK MINNICK HAS DONE SOME FAMILY RESEARCH. SHE FOUND THERE WAS A JAMES FRANK PECK FROM NANSEMOND COUNTY WHO SERVED IN CIVIL WAR IN 1863 IN SOUTH CAROLINA. WAS PROBABLY KILLED IN BATTLE OF MANNASS.

INFO FROM HANNAH PECK JOHNSON INDICATES FRANK HAD SIBLINGS,NELLIE AND JESSIE. THEY WERE OLD MAIDS WHO LIVED WITH, THEIR BROTHER JIM, IN SMITHFIELD, AND ANOTHER SISTER ,MAMIE WHO MARRIED UNKNOWN SAUNDERS.

Info from Sandra Verlander Ballard 7/17/2004= Uncle Jim of Smithfield was Granddaddy's brother. Nellie and Jessie were his daughters. Mamie was Uncle Jim's married daughter.

Chuckatuck is a neighborhood of the independent city of Suffolk , Virginia , United States . It is located at the junction of State Route 10 /State Route 32 and State Route 125 , just south of SR 10/32's crossing of Chuckatuck Creek . Its elevation is 36 feet above mean sea level . The neighborhood is relatively small and consists of such businesses as a garden store, general store, automobile repair shop, two churches, two gas stations, a restaurant, a hardware store, and others. It has a fire department, Suffolk station nine, which is operated as the Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department. The community is also located near Lone Star Lakes, a recreational park.

Quote from postcard to Doris Holt Barnes from Iris Vane Mitchell(Cousin Iris),
"What I heard years ago where Grandfather Barham was buried. The farm of Ackie
Gwaltney, near Delk's Crossroads. Across the road from the home in a field
was a burying ground in that day.Long grown up."Postcard dated March 5, 1971.
His mother was Emile Jones Gwaltney which may explain he was buried on
Gwaltney property.

Grave site is on right hand side of driveway through the cemetery and is in
the first line of gravestones next to the driveway which circles behind the
the church. Two of Nancy's sons, William Joseph Barham and Compton Monroe
Barham are also buried there.
