    Notes:

    Bert Duckwall / Bif Duckwall
While in Virginia (beginning in 2001), Bert, was a very fine History teacher at Dinwiddie Middle School that brought the subject to life with his fun and exciting Power Point presentations. He filled his classroom with music (past and present) and stimulating activities to make history unforgettable.
With his calm and soothing voice, he made an excellent counselor, speaker, and Pastor as well as enjoying singing. He was a Pastor at several churches in Indiana before coming to Virginia where he began working part time as a Pastor, filling in at local churches, serving at funerals, being an Associate Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Hopewell and serving two churches, Broadnax and Bethany United Methodist Churches (Brodnax, VA) as their Pastor. He never stopped teaching and preaching even on his hospital bed.

    Brooke Branzelle:
Mr.Duckwall taught both me and my brother while teaching at Dinwiddie Middle School and always had such a special relationship with us along with our family as a whole. My first day of 6th grade he looked at me and told me that I should sit in the very first seat in the front row to "get the full effect" and boy was he right! He had a passion for teaching and loved calling us out in front of our classmates when we weren't paying attention. Mr.Duckwall would love picking fights between my brother and I as he would say to us, "who is the favorite child in the family?" knowing that we would each say the opposite answers of course! He was truly one of those people you meet in life and know from the moment you met them that they will have a lasting lifelong impression. He was a great teacher and always had plenty of words of wisdom and life lessons to share. May he rest in peace.

    Birth:
    Wlater Reed Hosp.

    Died:
Bert Duckwall is in Union Hospital, Terre Haute, Indiana and has been unresponsive (coma like state) since Wed. I'm glad that he spent Christmas with his children and grand children and that he has had good times with them. He has had seizures and mini strokes as well as out of control blood sugar. He has had congestive heart failure for several years, has had kidney failure for several years and recently started dialysis. He is diabetic which has taken a terrible toll on his body for many years (most of our marriage of 14 years he has suffered with heart, diabetic, and other illnesses). Thanks for your prayers. His son, Matt shared the song, Amazing Grace (my chains are gone). I pray for his peace and comfort and that indeed some day his chains of this life will be gone. Thanks so much!)

My husband, Bert Duckwall, (Feb. 2, 1946 - Feb. 2, 2016) passed away to eternal life and glory this morning at about 9:45 a.m. His memorial service and burial will be in his beloved Indiana among his family, friends and fellow Hoosiers where he was raised and lived.
