      Goodrich, Fenton Richardson

      Fenton Richardson Goodrich, 76, of Warrique Rd., Ivor, Va., passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 11, 2005. He was the son of the late Robert B. and Rena R. Goodrich and a native of Surry County. Mr. Goodrich was a retired farmer and an active member of Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, where he served as deacon for many years, and was a member of the Elizabeth Eley Sunday school class. He was a member of the Wakefield Ruritan Club with 25 years of perfect attendance and was honored as Ruritan of the Year in 1979. He was a past member of the Southampton County Farm Bureau Board of Directors, and was a past member of the Farmer's Hunt Club. Fenton is survived by his wife of 52 years, Bernice Britt Goodrich; two sons, Lynn F. Goodrich and wife, Lynn, of Ivor, and Glynn F. Goodrich and wife, Sheryl, of Mechanicsville; a brother, Robert Jerome Goodrich of Carrsville; one granddaughter, Jordan K. Goodrich of Mechanicsville; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Herman D. Goodrich. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 13, 2005 at 2 p.m. in Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, Zuni, Va., with the Rev. Dr. Robert Edwards and the Rev. Micah Voight officiating. Burial will follow in Ivor Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Purviance Funeral Home, Wakefield, on Wednesday evening, 7 until 8:30 p.m., and other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the Benevolence Fund, Tucker Swamp Baptist Church, 37527 Seacock Chapel Rd., Zuni, Va. 23898. Published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch on 1/12/2005.
