	Hilda Holt Scott, 99, of Waverly passed away peacefully Thursday, August 22, 2013 at her home. A lifelong resident of Surry, she was the daughter of the late James H. Holt and Denna Elizabeth Barham Holt. She was a loving, faithful, hard working mother, homemaker and farmer's wife. Mrs. Scott loved to quilt and sew and was an avid gardener who excelled at canning vegetables. She was a member of Carsley United Methodist Church and the Rusty Needle Club. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ryland A. Scott and a daughter, Gay Scott. Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Carl Scott of Disputanta, Richard Scott and wife, Alice of Waverly and Keith Scott and wife, Becky of Dinwiddie; daughter, Louise Parham of Claremont; sister, Doris Barnes of Hampton; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; 12 great great-grandchildren and numerous loving nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel with Rev. Ray Rowland officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Waverly Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Waverly Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 318, Waverly, VA 23890, Surry Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 188, Surry, VA 23883 or Crater Community Hospice, 3916 S. Crater Road Petersburg, VA 23805.
