Notes |
- Edmund Anderson
Edmund Anderson (1763-1810) was the first person to be buried at Locust Hill graveyard. He was married to Lucy Meriwether Lewis Anderson, Meriwether Lewis's sister. His mother-in-law, Lucy Meriwether Lewis Marks intended to start the graveyard to bury Meriwether, but it was too difficult for her to find someone to bring the body back from Tennesee, where he died of a gunshot wound. Edmund's death, as well as that of a neighbor, encouraged Mrs. Marks to go ahead and start the cemetery. He was the father of nine children. [1]
