Ok, I had to pull out my Rudd research. Our g-grandfather William Edward Rudd was born 1855, his father, our gg grandfather, Augustus Samuel Rudd was born about 1812. He would be a contemporary of William Tottington Rudd who was born I 1809. I don't know where Wm Tot fits into the picture yet.

It is unknown how Claiborne and Evelyn met. Claiborne graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Richmond (same as his son). He was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia. They first lived in the apartments on Cleveland Street in Richmond when he got out of the service. They lived with his father and mother there. He was in the US Navy and stationed in San Diego, California and Evelyn went out there twice to see him. After the divorce, Claiborne lived at 901 Kent Rd, Richmond, VA., with his mother.

He was still living there when he died at McGuire Veterans Hospital in Richmond (age 61).

The graveside service was held at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Henrico County, 4000 Pilot's Ln., Virginia at 3:30 PM and officiated by Rev. Hugh Kirby and Rev. George Sadler. Bennett Funeral Home (Bennett Funeral Home - 3215 Cutshaw Ave, Richmond ) handled the funeral.

Elsie's last known address was on Southside Richmond, off Riverside Drive. There is no listing for her or her husband in the 1995-96 phone book for Richmond. She is 85 years old. It is my recollection that she and her husband had children. I met her once when I was 13 or 14 years old. My Father took me to me them, but I really can't remember much about it.

Served in the US Air Force from 12/66 to 9/72 with the Combat Control Team with duty in Central & South America. Stationed at Sewart AFB, TN, Little Rock AFB, AK and last duty station at Dover AFB, DE. He made over 500+ parachute drops in the military, as Combat Control was part of Air Force Special Tactics. He was also a scuba diver and loved diving. He continued to dive after the military, mostly in the Chesapeake Bay. Married Leslie Clayton Ernst at Dover and was divorced a few years later. DOVER - Robert "Bob" Thurston Barrett passed away Thursday, Oct. 28, 2010, in the home of his son, Tyler Barrett. He had been residing with Tyler for the past several months while he battled cancer. Bob was born Jan. 3, 1939, in Wilmington, to the late Sarah Moore and Leroy Barrett. He graduated from Metuchen High School, Metuchen, N.J., in 1956. Bob took the New Jersey Entrance Exam and scored the highest ever on the Algebra section. That accomplishment earned him a full scholarship to Princeton University . Bob graduated from Princeton in 1960 and from Columbia Law School in 1964. He secured the first full time position as a law clerk for the Superior Court of New Castle County, Delaware. He later worked as a lawyer in Dover, DE from his office on The Green. Throughout Bob's legal career he always looked for ways to help others and often did pro bono work. As a young man, Bob was president of the Young Democrats and served as an aide to Governor Charles Terry, Jr. Later when retired from law, Bob worked as comptroller of Salty Sam's in New Castle, DE. Bob taught Sunday School at Wesley United Methodist Church. He enjoyed reading, traveling, fine dining, writing and playing bridge. He loved spending time with his family. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by his longtime companion, Lucretia Smoot of Dover, DE. He is survived by his great-aunt, Dora Alexander of Whitehouse Station, NJ; two half- brothers, Bill Barrett of Winston-Salem, NC, Jim Barrett of Knoxville, TN; a half-sister, Barbara Barrett of NJ; his daughter Lisbeth Baker of Millsboro, DE and her husband, Randy, his son Tyler Barrett of Mayville, NY, his youngest son Andrew Barrett of Cambridge, MN and his wife, Wendy Waszut-Barrett; grandchildren, Sara Baker, Isabelle Rose and Aaron Barrett, Zachariah McCann, David and Aaron Schneider. A Celebration of his Life will be held Jan. 3 at 1 p.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church, 209 S. Bradford Street, Dover. A reception will follow after his service in the church fellowship hall. Friends and family are all welcome to attend.
