Gene, here is information I have. Asa Bernard Johnson, Jr. ( No one in these parts called him Bernard; here he was known as Johnny.) Born: Nov.29 1907 in Danville, Va. Died: August 27, 1976 in Macon, Ga. of Emphysema. Notes: A. B. J. Jr. served in the United States Navy in World War 11. According to the US Muster Roles , he served on the ship Antaeus and was mustered out June 11, 1944. He was a part of the effort to supply American Troops fighting in Northern Africa. He was a Manufacturer's Representative (salesman), showing samples from manufacturers in New York to retailers across the South East. He married Lucille Adams of Taylor County, Ga. (don't have the date) and they had one daughter, Bonnie Sue. Lucille's parents were Cora Davis of Taylor County and John Quincy Adams of Macon County. Notes: Lucille's paternal grandmother was Emma Rumph, a part of the Rumph family famous for producing a new variety of peach at their Willow Lake plantation in Macon County, Ga. Samuel Lewis Rumph, an early horticulturalist, named it the Elberta Peach after his wife. Later, he developed an ice packed railroad car to transport Georgia peaches as far away as New York.
Bonnie Sue Johnson (Bonnie) was born July 19, 1941 in Macon, Ga.-Bibb County. She married Cathey Alexander Smith of Macon born Oct.9, 1941 on August 3, 1963. Cathey's maternal second great grandfather, Osgood Willingham, founded an Architectual mill working company in 1882 that still operates in Macon today and is on the National Register of Historic Places. Cathey served as its President until his death in 2005. His and Bonnie's oldest son, Brian, holds that title today. Bonnie and Cathey had 3 sons: Bernard Brian Smith born January 25, 1966, Cathey Alexander Smith, Jr. born June 8, 1969 and Adams Hearn Smith born January 27, 1975. Cathey Alexander Smith, Jr. has three daughters: Allyson Grace born Dec. 7, 2000, Melanie Kim born Oct. 1, 2002 and Anna Catherine Smith born June 13, 2005.
Bonnie remarried in 2007 Robert Watson Hearn, Jr. born Dec. 23, 1937 in Macon, Ga.
