Just a note: Tommy, HC Jr., and Gene used to raid uncle Linwood's refrigerator and clean it out. We made him so mad one time by drinking every drop of milk, that Tommy went to Safeway and bought more (before we were allowed back in the house). HC and Gene were younger than Tommy and he was the only one with any money. And our fearless leader.

Her mother finally got her to come out of hiding when she told Faye that Tommy (the big, bad Army Ranger) wasn't that mad, just embarrassed at being knocked out by a 13 year old girl. ... by his cousin Gene Harris

This was during the worst snow storm in many years in Richmond. CPR was done by PJ Fimian and his young son Mark. The snow was so bad that a fire truck had to preceed the ambulance so it could get down the street. He was taken to Chippenham Hospital where he was pronounced

Paige West Cowden, loving and devoted wife, mother, proud grandmother, aunt and loyal friend, was called home after a long fight with cancer. She passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 in her home surrounded by family and friends.
Born in Suffolk, Virginia, on November 20, 1941, to the late Thelma H. West and Herman T. West, she was predeceased by her brother, Thomas L. West.
In 1960, Paige met and married her husband and the love of her life, Dr. Robert Cowden. Married for over 54 years, they had three children, two sons and a daughter. Her children and son-in-law, daughter-in-law, soon to be daughter-in-law and beautiful granddaughter, completed what was her most precious possession in life, her family.
To her family, Paige was many things: lawyer, chef, cop, nurse, counselor, confidant, and above all, a fierce protector of those she loved. She loved her family and friends. She found joy in the little things, and her special touch and attention to detail is what made her house a home. Paige had a bottomless font of forgiveness and a huge capacity to love. She made this world a better place and she will be dearly missed.
Following graduation from Suffolk High School, Paige spent many years as a stay-at-home mother. Once all her children were settled in school, she attended Old Dominion University where she studied Business and graduated with honors with a degree in Business Administration. She continued her studies at the University of Richmond and became a Certified Public Accountant. She went to work for the Bank of America in Norfolk and retired as an Assistant Vice President in the credit card department. After retiring from the Bank of America, she remained active in the community, participating in the Red Hat Society and Meals on Wheels, as well as serving on the Harbor Watch Condominium Board.
Paige is survived by her loving husband, Dr. Robert Cowden, son Allan Cowden, his wife Suzanne and their precious granddaughter Rachel, son Christopher Cowden and his fiancé Keisha Scott, and daughter Margaret (Terri) and her husband Christopher Bernier. Also, her nephew Mark and his wife Brenda West always have been a close part of the family, along with her cousin Joan and her husband David Short, and her cousin Gene Harris. Paige also had many special close and supportive friends, including Mary and Tom Fehrs, Judy and Dan Graves, Grace and Jerry Hoggard, Lorraine Melvin and Shirley and Mickey Casady.
Before her passing, Paige stated that she would like everyone to know that she led a very productive and fulfilling life, and felt blessed for all the support and prayers of all the people she touched, and who touched her, during her life, filling it with irreplaceable memories.
A graveside service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 19, 2015 in Chesapeake Memorial Gardens, 524 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Dr. Bob Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at Oman Funeral Home & Crematory, 653 Cedar Road, Chesapeake. Friends are invited to sign the online guest book at www.omanfh.com
