- Graduated from Lawrenceville High School in 1939. Went to John Marshall High School for night classes in Business. Married by Rev. Jack Noffsinger at the 1st Baptist Church in the chapel. Harriette Newman (sister) was maid of honor Best man was Calvin Horne. Honeymoon in Niagra Falls, Ny.
Mayme Virginia Newman Horne, 85, of Richmond, went to be with the Lord following a long illness, September 9, 2005. She was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, G. Landon Horne. She is survived by her son, Justin L. Horne and his wife, Martha; her daughter, Elizabeth Hughes and her husband, Ken; her granddaughter, Pamela Horne; her sister, Harriett Ferguson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Horne was an active member of The Tabernacle Baptist Church for over 50 years. She served as the church librarian for many years, served as Sunday School Administrator, and helped with church training programs. She retired from Travelers Insurance Company. She enjoyed visits with her family and will be greatly missed. Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where services will be held 12 noon Tuesday, Interment Westhampton Memorial Park. Published in the Richmond Times-Dispatch from 9/11/2005 - 9/12/2005.
Her remains rest at the Bliley Funeral Homes' Chippenham Chapel, 6900 Hull Street Rd., where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, and where services will be held 12 noon Tuesday, Interment Westhampton Memorial Park.
